I Decided Not to Stay

So I realized that Jonas and I haven’t updated our blog lately. It is probably because Jonas has been very busy with work, and because there have been some major changes in my life in the past few weeks.

I am not staying at my draining corporate research job (my last day was 12/09), I am moving out of my current apartment (which is pretty sad because I am living with one of my long time best friends), and eventually, I will be moving to California to start a new chapter of my life with my Mr. Right (yes, I mean Jonas). I am excited and scared to make such a major change, but I am pretty sure that the risk will be worth it. I am just hoping I can find my dream public library job before I run out of money.

As most of my friends know, I am a planner. So I have developed a plan for this transition. The preliminary plan has five phases:

Phase 1: Move back up north with my parents. This will be interesting since I haven’t lived with them since I was 17. But I am looking forward to living rent free and catching up on some quality family time before I move across the country.

Phase 2: Move to California with Jonas and his family. This should be interesting since his mom and I struggle to communicate, but maybe it will help me improve my extremely limited Cantonese and help her improve her somewhat limited English.

Phase 3: Find a job. Fast. I hope to get a public library job, but I could do the corporate thing for a year or two if I have to.

Phase 4: Move into my own apartment. I just hope I can find something affordable.

Phase 5: Live happily ever after with Jonas.

Wish me luck. :)
